Debora Weber

Communications Web Specialist and Artist

Web Specialist
weber web designTen years of web experience includes web site project management for reconstruction of a 1500 page web site–the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine–and the implementation of a Dot Net Nuke content management system. I wrote training materials for users of the CMS as well as training materials for a database for faculty CVs and web pilot projects. Interactive web pages include the Penn Vet 125th Anniversary web site as well as social networking sites on Twitter, Facebook, and Linked In.

I design and maintain standards compliant, cross-browser compatible web sites. For educational examples, I designed internet presence for Arcadia University, and Tulpehocken School District. For crafts, see That's My Dog.

My technical skill set includes Photoshop, Dreamweaver, XHTML, HTML, CSS2, Contribute, FreeHand, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks, XML, Adobe Acrobat, JavaScript, FTP, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, CVS, wiki, Celoxis and Urchin.

Technology training is ongoing. I participated on Penn's ISC Web Browser Testing Team and Penn’s RSS Team to explore RSS/podcasting. I have set up blogs for community groups. In the e-Learning industry, I used Flash, Articulate and a learning management system (LMS) to create online learning programs for continuing medical education credits. I also coordinated workshops for that program. I was also a member of PADLA, Pennsylvania Distance Learning Association.
Graphic Design
weber graphic design I designed branding and marketing materials for Fortune 500 clients, including Campbell's Soup Company. And if you were in Manayunk, Philly's trendy restaurant neighborhood, you would have seen my logo work for Manayunk Brewing Company.

For four years I performed electronic file pre-flight, line screen halftones, trapping, separating film (40" x 50"), stripping and proofing for big names like McDonalds and Perdue as a flexographic prepress artist.
Illustration
weber illustrationThe Vlasik Stork and Grampa Stroehmann are two famous cartoon characters which I have illustrated for in-store marketing materials. Did you know they have to be redrawn each time a new pose is required? Watercolors, pen & ink and colored pencils are the medium I use in addition to digital media to create illustrations for educational publishing, packaging and the web. I am the illustrator for several childrens books and was recognized for my work in the national business publication "Who's Who" in 1988.
Writing
weber writingFrom headlines to romance copy, I write text for brochures, advertising and packaging. For Arcadia University, I wrote and placed ads in Peterson's Four-Year Colleges. Campbell's Soup Company's millennium calendar required copy in the time line page. I was editor of a newsletter for the Lower Merion School District for seven busy years.

I write and submit press releases as a volunteer in the community for schools, garden clubs and artists. I also write documentation and create Power Point presentations.
Fine Art & Craft Art
weber artI earned a B.A. in Liberal Art, magna cum laude, from Lake Erie College (sister college of Mount Holyoke) near Cleveland, Ohio and attended Oxford University at the Ruskin School of Art. Life drawing class consisted of models that held month-long poses, allowing students time to master the human form.

After graduation, I took continuing education courses at Moore College of Art and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. As an evening student at Wharton, I completed the course "Intro to Marketing" for some basic marketing knowledge and began marketing "That's My Dog!" in three states. Some of my creations were available at The Black Cat, a gift shop associated with a popular restaurant in Philadelphia known as The White Dog.

I continue to explore sculpture and painting for pleasure. My paintings have been displayed in the Philadelphia area: The Main Line Art Center, Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists and I am a member of The Plastic Club and I had a solo show in February 2009 in Chestnut Hill for First Friday.
